Dr. Franz, the other veterinary doctor apart from Dr. Chua herself, took charge of Hushie. He prescribed an eye antibiotic (this time without a steroid) but he believes that the only way for the infection to resolve is removal of the membrane that is inflamed. Although minor, it still calls for surgery where laboratory tests for clearance are to be done prior to anaesthesia and actual excision of a part of Hushie's third eyelid.
Dr. Franz arrived and proceeded to extract a small amount of blood from Hushie's hind leg. We chose the cheapest package but my boyfriend assured me that the essentials such as CBC, sugar, etc. are included already so it's okay. Actually if you consider the dog's age usually you can just proceed with the surgery without the blood tests but I just didn't want to take the risk. Some 20 minutes later, the results came out and everything is good.
We left Hushie just as the anaesthesia started to kick in. I can still remember his whimpers as Dr. Franz started an intravenous line. It was so heartbreaking and difficult to bear. We stayed at the new Ersao in Banawe and waited for 2.5 hours.
We were back at the clinic at 3:00 PM. The assistant told us that Dr. Franz was out having lunch but the surgery was successful and there's nothing to worry about. I took a peek of Hushie at the recovery room adjacent to the OR and was so thrilled to see him already up and about.

Time to say hello to the cherry eye-free Hushie!
