My boyfriend who was still my suitor then took the first round to give me a head start, then we switched places. Honestly it looked so easy but when it was my turn to drive, I found it very difficult to handle the wheel and pedals at the same time. To cut the story short, he took charge of the wheel while my sole task was the gas and brake pedal. We were so slow especially during turning that the others (total strangers) had already finished. They were waiting for us in their parked Karts because it's prohibited to leave the track until every single one has halted. I really was beyond mortified. Until now I can clearly remember that experience which I guess was what made me resistant and terrified of driving. :(
I'm already 24 but I still don't know how to drive. Perhaps my greatest accomplishment behind the wheel was move my boyfriend's car a distance of 1 inch. Frankly, I do not have good body coordination. It was a good thing no one saw me when I first (and last) tried Kart Trak in EK.

So I’ve been reading some articles on money habits. My fave mag Cosmopolitan has this 50-30-20 Rule. Basically, 50% of your salary should be allotted for necessities, 30% for indulgences and the remaining 20% is put towards savings. Hmm.. I'll say not bad budgeting. But actually, I also read about this couple from the US who put 90% of their income into savings and investments! Incredulous? But possible.
Another interesting post I came across was from Kuripot Pinay dubbed the 52 Week Money Challenge. You place a certain portion of your salary in incremental amounts every pay day. Obviously it’s pretty easy at the start, having to shell out P500 or P1500. But imagine towards the end of the year, you’ll literally be taking away more than half of your pay check. Sounds farfetched? Challenge accepted. The final step before starting school. Unfortunately, the academic calendar isn't uploaded yet in the website. I checked the website for AY 2013-2014. The enrollment period for the 1st trimester was from July 29 to August 01. MBA classes began in August 12.
My co-worker said that his term will end first week August so I'm guessing that would also be the enrollment week. If you're wondering how much money to bring, here are last year's fees which can more or less be your basis: We Filipinos love to eat. At home, we eat at least four times a day. At work, every meeting isn't complete without food. When we go out in the weekend, trying out a new restaurant that everyone's been raving about is always at the top of our list.
So join me as I share my foodielicious journey this year. Never mind how much exercise I should do to compensate for these. It was worth it. Comments and resto suggestions are most welcome! I would definitely want to try every food imaginable :) Perhaps one of my greatest blessings in life is landing a great job. My boss and colleagues are very nice. I really feel that I am part of a loving family. I count myself lucky because not many people last in their first company but I can proudly say, "not me!".
Here are some of the highlights of my 2013 to Q1 2014 trips primarily for business. But we always make it a point to squeeze in leisure as well. This is one of my favourite Italian restaurants because of the delicious food, large serving size and price that's friendly to your pocket.
Got a manicure at a salon near our house. I don't normally pamper my fingernails but I decided to reward myself after a tough day on the field. It only cost me 60 pesos. Super lovin' it! Hihi.
I have a sweet tooth. More accurately, if only each of my teeth would speak up, it would probably admit that it adores sweets more than anything else in the world. And what about my brain who loves glucose to death. I mean sugar is your brain's food, and you must always feed it what it needs if you don't wanna suffer from doltishness right? Lame excuse, i know.
Well anyway, I had this annual check up at work and my results were pretty much all good except that my blood sugar is high normal. Grabe, I'm only 24 but already having this kind of lab test result. Being a pharmacist, I know that if I don't start lifestyle modification such as proper diet and exercise, I may soon be taking oral hypoglycaemics like Metformin. Having it in my genes also made it worse. My grandmother died of diabetes complications. Let me tell you more about the Ateneo MBA exam. The test starts at 8:00 and ends early for non-foreign examinees like me - I think around 11AM. It consists of two parts with a ten-minute break in between. An additional 30 minutes for Part III is required for foreign applicants.
Part I has 125 items on English and Math which you have to answer in just 1 hour and 40 minutes. It starts with vocabulary and analogy, followed by syntax/sentence construction, then reading comprehension and finally numerical reasoning. I was bored on a weekend afternoon. My sibs were busy doing their own thing so I tried to think of something productive to do. After decluttering for the nth time, there I was staring vacantly at the bedroom wall. Darn it, why do I have so much free time.
I paced around the house and ran through my mental checklist. Cabinet, done. Bags and books storage, done. Shoe rack, done... And then I saw it. Amidst the pile of empty boxes and canisters I suppose to be thrown away, I noticed a Ferrero Rocher box which suddenly sparked me an idea. Hmm.. why not turn it into something useful? |
