Part I has 125 items on English and Math which you have to answer in just 1 hour and 40 minutes. It starts with vocabulary and analogy, followed by syntax/sentence construction, then reading comprehension and finally numerical reasoning.
Part II is basically about logical thinking. Questions are mostly on making inferences, drawing conclusions, and analyzing strong/weak arguments. Although it has 75 items and you are given 40 minutes, there are sometimes 5 choices to choose from as opposed to Part I which only has 4. For example, you'd have to choose if the statement is true, false, probably true, probably false or there is insufficient data. There were also items wherein there's only two choices like strong or weak argument, the conclusion follows or it does not follow. Mind you, I also thought 40 minutes was enough but since all items require you to read phrases or even a whole paragraph before the question itself, then it still eats up most of your time.
Overall, I think the exam was difficult. Especially if you took it with the objective of acing it. You are not given the luxury of time to carefully digest every statement or question. You can't dangle too much on one item because you will certainly not finish. Even for the Math part, my strategy was to work backwards on most questions because I obviously will not make it to the end if I solve using Algebraic expressions. As for Part II, I honestly cannot gauge how I did because I tend to overanalyze or over-challenge statement/s thrown at me. Being very time-conscious did not help at all.
In short, I have no idea if I will make it to the cut. I am not exactly a pessimist but I'm a realist to the bone. I'm still hopeful though that I do pass since I even practiced Kaplan GMAT for this! Anyway, enough of my ranting and self-doubt. Plan B: letter of appeal. But will my pride let me?
June 22, 2014 Update: I passed!! Whew. The agony is finally over.
